Konichiwa/Konbanwa!
It's that time again: to tell you what's happening with JavaBlackBelt ...
New Java exams
We've released three new ones:
Java SE Base API Basic
Java SE Collections
Java SE Reflection API
That makes eight released.
Plus, there are six more being built by the community.
New Spring Core (non-basic) exam
John Rizzo, JavaBlackBelt co-founder, released the Spring Core "non basic - at all!" exam.
It tests your understanding and ability to apply what's been explained in Chapters 3, 4 and 5 in the Spring 2.0 documentation.
Passing this exam gets you nine (9) knowledge points. To take it you'll need to have 50 contribution points.
But...
until Monday, November 27th, both the Spring Core - Basic and Spring Core (non-basic) exams are FREE — ZERO (0) contributions points required to take these exams!
TR!SH goes to NYC
Since she's going StateSide for Thanksgiving, she'll hang around the city for a few extra days. Why?
To catch up with cool people in the city, like Jeanne Boyarsky, a brown belt and dedicated JavaBlackBelt administrator.
While Trish is there, she'll also evangelize JavaBlackBelt's unique value to companies associated with the NYJavaSIG —
companies largely active in Java enterprise developments.
If you work in Manhattan with a Java-centric company that may want to get a glimpse of the JavaBlackBelt Corporate Edition, send an email to:

New features on JavaBlackBelt
Since our recent deployment we've added a few more features to the application.
HIGHLIGHTED changes
Now when you look at exam questions you can see the differences between versions — in color.
Just compare two questions, click on "change displayed versions" and you'll see different highlights:
BLUE: what's been added
ROSE: what's been deleted
BEIGE: what's been changed/edited
* * *
The Question Detective
It detects questions that are published already -- before they were posted on JavaBlackBelt.
The detector sends a message to assigned administrators to investigate questions and follow up with users.
* * *
Fan-club voting detector & messenger
This feature detects newly created, low-to-no activity users except voting (generously) for particular users' questions.
Then it sends a "gotcha" message to the "popular users."
* * *
Wiki-wiki-wiki ... pages ...
... now they are kept together in the DB; no longer stored as lone files.
And they're "versioned" so you can the most recent page, who edited and when.
* * *
Encoding fixed
From now on if you want to write your name in kanji, arabic, cyrillic, hebrew or whatever, it will be displayed as it should be.

By the way...
We want you to have a description of what's been done on the application.
On THIS PAGE you can see what's been deployed and bugs that have been fixed.
For your comments and requests about the application, please add them to the forum.
As always, a huge "arigato" for your continued support, efforts and enthusiasm!
Without you we couldn't keep the JavaBlackBelt community going - strong!
