"Kunichiwa" JavaBlackBelt Users!

Firstly a huge "arigato" for your continued support, efforts and enthusiasm! Without you we couldn't keep the JavaBlackBelt community going - strong!

Java SE exam series

Since the last (kind of long ago) user's newsletter, many exams have been created/released on JavaBlackBelt.

You'll immediately notice the 12 Java SE exams on the home page.

Don't (don'tdon'tdon't) hesitate to train with these exams - there are many beta questions - or to get your next belt.

Java ME

The Java ME exam goes beta.

Be sure to vote on these questions when taking the Beta questionnaire. That way we can release it!

And! Check out the snappy testimonial on the exam page from Vikram Goyal, the author of Pro Java ME MMAPI.

Java SE - Basic ... too hard !

The Java SE - Basic exam is the most popular of all JavaBlackBelt exams, consisting of 1400+ questions.

This entry exam was switched to YAMP this summer, which made itmuch more difficult.

Many users added difficult questions - out of the scope of the objectives. Currently we ("hooj" thanks to the moderators who have been helping us) are busy sorting questions to other Java SE (more specialized) exams.

Already the exam zone contains questions with a more reasonable level of difficulty, while we continue to move questions out of the incubator (=> the Beta exam is harder than the real one).

JGoodies exams

We are creating 2 JGoodies exams: Form and Binding. If you work with JGoodies don't hesitate to add a question.

Karsten Lentzsche, founder of JGoodies has been proactive is setting the proper objectives with John Rizzo.

New page: What can I do to contribute ?

Many of you have kindly and skillfully contributed to JavaBlackBelt in 2006. Namely, you added 6600+ questions in 2006.

For those who wonder how they can best contribute, we created a clear guideline on the site to give you the priorities and where JavaBlackBelt best benefits from your contribution to the exams/questions.

So, we wrote the What can I do to contribute page available under the Contribute menu. The system does not automatically give contribution points for every action - like moving a question or obtaining a testimonial (which we would be oh-so-pleased to have.) But, DO NOT hesitate to ask Jeanne ("Brown Belt Boyarsky") for arbitrary points for your efforts.

We've got a shop on Cafepress.com

As many of you have asked about, T-shirts (etceterati) are now available for order here. (These and other styles will soon show up in the auctions.) Currently, there is one (sort of branded) design. This is just the beginning...
In the meantime, you can create a design using our logo. If we like it - it's goes into the shop! (Contact TR!SH, our "Java Groupie" for more details.)

JasperReports TechAnim

We've published our first TechAnim. Soon theserverside.com will publish it. But right now, you can see it here!
(It's a nice animation, if we do say so ourselves.)

TR!SH is going to EuroOSCON in Brussels

Our communications & publicity "geisha" will go to EuroOSCON, Monday 18 September to evangelize about JavaBlackBelt users, the community, "etceterati".
She'll also catch Kathy Sierra's session "Creating Passionate Users".
